CMNS 458/856 Course Dates

About

As we decide what we'll discuss and present in each lecture period, we'll put up the details here. The schedule will change as we see how we go!

We'll split each class down the middle, and have a 15 minute break at the halfway point.

Final project write-ups are due on the 6th of April!

January

17th:

We will go through a quick overview of all the material in the course, and discuss projects. We will also discuss possible involvement in a class ASI project.

24th:

Steve will be at NASA once again! Adam Holbrook will discuss ASI and introduce issues involved in the launch and management of a communications satellite.

31st:

We will complete discussion of project ideas and start on the details of network communication and wire-based networks.

February

7th:

PROJECT PROPOSALS DUE! We'll discuss wireless networks and then IP vs ATM networks.

14th:

Details of global IP infrastructure. How information gets around the world. Mobile networks.

21st:

Collaborative software and systems. How to work together on the network. Communicating via spacecraft.

28th:

Communicating with another planet. What DOES Steve do?

March

7th:

What's appropriate for the global community?
